Most “witches” who show off are fake.
I won’t call them narcissists, because who knows what else is ailing them, but they sure as hell aren’t witches.
It took me SO GODDAMN LONG to learn this lesson! And if you’re “solar” like I am, perhaps you’ll need this article.
I don’t like publishing so many articles in a row, I tend to leave a few days or weeks between them so that you won’t be tired of my updates, lol. But since yesterday’s article was a bit “heavy” and too specific (if you know, you know), I thought I’d publish this one now to bring the energy in my blog back to what it usually is (again, if you know, you know).
“Working with the moon” isn’t what people are advertising.
I’ll go further and risk saying: ANYONE who advertises lunar witchcraft out in the open — like in youtube channels, Instagram, websites, signs in shop windows, etc — is just a confused wannabe. Some (the narcissistic subgroup), I regret to tell you, aren’t so confused, they’re deliberately looking for gullible prey. Either way, they’re all fake. Don’t make my mistake. Don’t waste your time.
I used to fall for this trick because I’m a solar person. I don’t call myself a witch because I escape the norm (I think I’m more like a fortune teller? Sort of like the Romani, but obviously without the Romani background; just similar?), but if you wanna call me a witch, feel free. However, I don’t work with the moon. I don’t even pretend to. I’m not saying I “avoid” lunar energy, no I don’t — every human has access to all energies and shouldn’t suppress or run away from any in particular — but there will be a natural tendency or inclination towards one more than the others. Mine is solar.
The thing about solar people is… we ARE visible. We thrive in the light (by which I mean, we thrive when we’re shedding light on our work, “showing off” a bit, if you will). Just look at the sun. Is the sun subtle? Do you have to actively look for the sun in the sky to know where it’s shining? No. It’s always very obvious, even at sunset. Metaphorically, solar people are like that too. We’re warm (and a bit hot-headed), willing to share it all, honest to the point of being childlike, with a spring on our step, full of energy and enthusiasm.
So, if a solar person like me goes and puts up a sign saying “oracle service here, ring the bell”, we’re not luring gullible prey. We mean it. That’s why I projected it onto other kinds of spiritual practitioners, and just assumed the “witches” I saw advertising their work were legit (or at least legit learners). Perhaps if you’re like me, you need me to tell you: no, they’re not. Yes, I know, you’d imagine that in today’s environment — where we no longer get burned at the stake — lunar witches would freely advertise what they do… But they don’t. What you see is fake wannabes.
This isn’t about “oppression” or “victimhood”.
A lot of mentally unwell people out there loooooooove to whine about how oppressed they are, how much they suffer, how much of an underdog they are. Awwww… It almost makes you pity them. Don’t fall for the drama. (Yes, pun intended, I mean “drama” both in the emotional dysregulation sense and in the theatre sense).
Real underdogs aren’t romanticising their pain in a Shakespearean way; instead they’re protesting unfair policies and State bigotry — again, look at the Romani. They’re not pretending, they’re real victims of injustice. And they don’t like portraying themselves as poor damsels in distress; no! Instead, they raise awareness to their oppression in a mature way and use the tools they have to demand justice. They raise money for projects in favour of equality, they go and support other underdogs, from other groups they don’t belong in, in a tangible way. They understand intersectionality because they’re not just putting on a mask of do-gooder for attention; they’re GENUINELY doing good.
Meanwhile, how many of these “feminist” witches are helping women’s shelters? Helping social workers? Donating milk, formula, etc to single mothers in need? Joining protests against bigotry? Rescuing victims of domestic violence? Fighting racism? Housing refugees? Donating and promoting with their platform literally ANY humanitarian cause? Even rescuing animals? Saying as much as “free Palestine” on social media?
Zero. The number is zero, and I can verify that because TRUST ME, my connections in the social justice movements, in and out of politics, all over Europe and internationally go far. Never once have I seen these self-righteous neopagans with an online platform join any of our efforts that have tangible results. NOT BLOODY ONCE! And I’m SICK of their performative bullshit.
(Admittedly, as I already said in another article, the Dingle Druid helps social justice movements. She’s the only one I know. But she’s solar, I mean, look at her.)
What these “lunar witch” internet celebrities are doing is a perversion, a caricature of feminism, or lunar witchcraft, or literally anything admirable. It’s sort of like when you’re looking for a doctor and there comes a stranger in a lab coat with a hand-drawn ID saying “I’m a legit doctor, trust me bro”. No, you’re not. Fuck off.
So, fake idiots use victimhood to fool the gullible. We learned that much. Okay… How and where do we find the REAL lunar witches, though?
Look at the moon. Study the moon… And you’ll see.
This is what helped me realise what I know now.
I used to wonder, “why is it that whenever I approach lunar people, I end up fighting or involved in drama? Aren’t we compatible even for courtesy’s sake?” — Well, the answer is that I was asking the wrong question. What I should be asking myself is “are these people I’m approaching truly lunar”, to which the answer is “no, they just have a personality disorder. Bless their heart”. (I’m not in the US south, I’m in Ireland, but “ya’ll” have the best slang. Shout out!)
Recently, one day, I just had the spontaneous idea of studying the moon itself — along with all the mythology, old traditions, etc, involving it. This brought me clarity.
I was like: okay… So, the people who claim to work with lunar energy all end up displaying classic traits of covert narcissism or worse disorders. Uh… do lunar goddesses display any of that? Even in their shadow side?
The answer was “no”.
Right. What about known witches from History like Biddy Early, Marie Laveau, Morgan Le Fay, Aradia, even the Ancient Greeks who knew the Eleunisian Mysteries? — all lunar, if we’re looking at them in an archetypal way.
Again, nothing remotely similar to covert narcissism. Some of these characters were morally grey, but it’s never in a “let me pretend to be a victim so I can vampirise your energy” sort of way. It’s in a more active way, because they had personal power. They weren’t just performing personal power.
Another thing all these characters have in common is that the only reason they’re famous, the only reason we know about them to this day, is because of what they accomplished — so the onlookers wrote about their accomplishments. They didn’t show off. They didn’t fish for attention. They probably couldn’t care less who they convinced or didn’t convince with crocodile tears. Hell, I don’t think they’d need to go that low.
The moon is like that, too.
It’s very active! It affects the tides, it eclipses the sun periodically, it affects animal behaviour and aids navigation — but it does so in a subtle way. It’s not like the sun, not because it’s better or worse, but because it’s different.
The real lunar witches are among us… And they look like average people.
I mean, not that the solar mystics don’t look average; If you know me in person, you know I do. But this goes beyond physical looks: I’m talking about transparency. Again, let me repeat: it’s only natural for solar people to be transparent about who they are, what they do, and where. This is why I have this blog and this is why I have my contacts who know about my craft — and once I’ve “graduated” my studies, everybody else will know too.
The lunar, on the other hand, aren’t ostentatious. They work in subtle ways, and if you blink, you’ll miss it.
Just like the moon.
